This is the second of my Jakob Bengel pieces. Over the last few months I've been lucky enough to come across several pieces of Jakob Bengel. This one had no enamel work the middle photo is the before, so I looked up a similar necklace and decided to use these colours, unfortunately the blue isn't exactly the same colour he used but from my point of view I love it. The beauty of brickwork jewellery is you can use both sides to give a different look. Here is a little about Jakob Bengel.
Jakob Bengel, locksmith, founded his company in 1873 in Idar-Oberstein and originally manufactured pocket watch chains.
It was during the Bauhaus and Art Deco period that designers were looking to obtain new materials and inspiration to produce costume jewellery. Inspired by French Avant-Garde and other fashion trendsetters such as Coco Chanel, Bengel started to produce experimental jewellery. The pieces, catalogued 1925-1939, combined brass and chrome with geometric shapes and colours
Many thanks for looking
Love this Jean!
Love it too! Both the design, your enameling, and the versatile way of wearing it either one side or another :-))
