This is one of my favourite pieces of cobalt blue glass. I think it is Czech, because the chimney says Made in Czechoslovakia ( I think, the writing is very rubbed but I think I see a Z!) I think it is relatively modern, but if anyone has any more information on it I would love to hear it.

I saw something nearly identical from Hong Kong at a thrift store today. Hong Kong pieces are typically 1950s-1960s. I would think there'd be similarity in age.

As a matter of interest, how did you know it was from Hong Kong? I never imagined it may be from China, and the chimney isn't!

The chimney may be a replacement on this lamp. Czechoslovakia was split in two countries in 1993 so the chimney would date before that date. Is there any information underbase or on the Thumbwheel? I agree that it is not an old lamp.

The base was marked, "HONG KONG", on the green piece I saw.

I have put a picture of the base up, it has no markings on it. I checked the fitting, and that has no marks on it at all.
