As the final part of this series, here are two coins related to her reign.
First is a 5 Shilling "Crown" commemorating the coronation. It is dated 1953 and the obverse features her equestrian portrait. It bears an edge inscription too... "FAITH AND TRUTH I WILL BEAR UNTO YOU" ... I personally believe that she has truly exemplified these virtues during the course of her long reign. The abbreviated obverse inscription in Latin rings true... Elizabeth II By the Grace of God Queen of Great Britain Defender of the Faith.
I have also included the 5 Shilling "Crown" of her Father, George VI. It is dated 1951 and features his more conventional portrait, with one of my favorite coin reverses of all time... St. George slaying the dragon. It also bears an edge inscription... " MDCCCLI CIVIUM INDUSTRIA FLORET CIVITAS MCMLI" - "1851 By the industry of its people the state flourishes 1951" which commemorated the Festival of Britain held in that year.
Yes, I am a proud American, but I am equally proud of my British heritage. Through her devotion to duty and steadfast qualities, I believe sincerely that Queen Elizabeth II has been a fantastic role model to all citizens of this planet we call home.
