I got this at a thrift store a little while back and paid about five dollars for it. This is a three footed pottery bowl that is signed by Jose Varga. This bowl depicts a wedding scene and I really like the colors on this bowl, bright and vibrant. I do not know much about the maker but it is a nice piece
The colors are fabulous... I wonder if it was once a wedding gift?
Beyemvey, very well could have been. Glad you stopped by :)
I just love this!!
Yes!.. it is..I love bright and cheerful 'stuff' and this has it in abundance...love it...:-)
Thanks racer4four and inky for the comments!
Beautiful colors Mrs T! It's such a festive bowl and reminds me of Mexican Pottery... very nice!!
BTW... I don't know how, but I've missed a lot of your posts, so now it's time to play catch-up :-)
Thanks Rick for all the comments and loves ;)
This was made in Guererro state in Mexico, probably in Ameyetepec. These artists are the same peoples who make the bark paper paintings they sell all over Mexico. They depict the lives the lead and that of their ancestors, relatives and friends in wonderful detail. Very colorful.
It says Ixtapa Zihuatanejo right on the bowl.
