I inherited this beaded necklace from my grandmothers estate. Not sure if these beads are Lucite or something else. They have a glow to them and I acid tested the clasp which came up as 12k gold. Any help in the discovery is appreciated and I didn't know this would be so fun :)

Chances are very good that the barrel clasp is plated and not 12 kt gold. Plated metal can show up as a low grade gold in an acid test. Plated metal will turn gray if acid is applied to it directly.
Possibly Lucite. A very pretty necklace.

Thank you. I'll try applying the acid directly to the clasp and see what happens.
