It's funny you say that Malkey because I was going to ask if it was a screw cap, but I didn't want to sound ignorant. I didn't know if they used anything other than corks in those days.
Hi Rick the internal screw thread was patented in the mid 1880s most widely known as Riley's patent

In America alone we had over 100 types of closure invented. Most didn't take off, but the British really liked the internal-threaded screw.
