My daughter picked this up for me the other day I think they are door stops or book marks not sure I think they are cast-iron they stand about 5” tall it has a date I think 1732 Washington 1937 cant make it all out and some words on the back
Do they have a big enough base to stand up straight?
Are there any holes on the back or high points where something might have protruded?
At first I thought they were bookends, but I would expect a finished or at least smooth back. Without holes, you can rule out wall hangings.
Maybe just something purely decorative to display standing on a shelf, but it would be odd to have the pair.
I think that they are nice and do have some value, but I am not sure what they are.
That’s why I was thinking door stops front and back door maybe I hope someone has seen these before and can tell me about them if you find out anything let me no Thanks
I have tried to look these up all day with no luck
Date is probably 1932.
There was a lot of celebrating on Washington's 200th Birthday and throughout the year. Buildings and bridges were dedicated and even the Purple Heart Medal was established (Washington's profile is on the heart shaped metal portion). Demand for Washington related items was high.
I forgot to mention the major nod to Washington in 1932-- the US QUARTER.
Still looking for Information if you know what these are
