Hi everyone,
Usually I tend not to buy drinking glasses but was tempted by this unusual little liqueur glass.
It was described as Murano but I'm wary, it seems most glass on eBay is described as Murano when, occasionally, I know it's not.
I'd love to know what others think.
It's an odd colour, an orangy pink which darkens toward the bottom.
Also the rim is a bit 'wobbly' as seen in photo 1.
I wondered how old it might be, I'd guess possibly Victorian??
All comments are welcome.
Thank you.
What an unusual and cool glass... I would have snagged it myself. I have never seen anything quite like it!!
Very pretty altogether Fran. I love the colours but do wonder if it's really a drinking glass. The rigaree gets really close to the rim at one point......
This is definitely a Victorian piece. The leafy foot is similar to the ones on tulip vases by Richardson. It's more a decorative piece than a proper drinking glass I think. It's fabulously fancy!
I wanted to say 'unusual' but welzebub has already done so I can just confirm his opinion.
Particularly love the base.
Thank you for the loves and nice comments everyone. Craig it must be a bit of a rarity if you've not seen anything quite like it before! Peggy, I hadn't thought of it being just a decorative piece, but agree, it's possible to drink from it with the rigaree but must say it's leafy foot is more like something seen on a vase than a drinking glass, actually I don't think I've ever seen a drinking glass with a foot like it..hmm I'll have a look around :)
