Bought recently at a garage sale in SC. Was told by the woman that her brother brought this home after the war from Japan. Does anyone know what this is or its use?? Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

I think this may be an Ikebana (Japanese floral arranging) container. A pin-holder
called a kenzan would fit into the top along with the water and then the arranger would make the design.

Thanks Roseanne, any idea as to the age or where it was made? Suposed to be from the war? Is it valuable?
