I often see Civil War soldiers identified as Native American based on facial features. While some of the identifications may be correct, it is unusual to find one with the documentation to back it up.
George W. Paschal served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the 2nd Texas Cavalry (US).
He has DOCUMENTED Cherokee lineage AND Native American features.
Paschal has a very interesting background. His father was an officer during the Cherokee relocation West and his mother was a Cherokee (Sarah) and the daughter of Chief John Ridge.
Interestingly, Stand Watie (BG CSA ) is the cousin of Chief John Ridge.
During the late 1850s George served as a Texas Ranger where he was wounded during a fight with Comanche Indians in 1858.
Thanks bobby and scott.
