Grone & Co. was in business from 1859 to 1923. 64 years in the soda water and brewery business in St. Louis, Missouri. Both businesses ran at the same time. Not sure when the brewery closed.
Henry Grone, Henry Damhorst & John Whelan ran the businesses from 1859 til about 1882. After that Henry Grone Jr and his son Henry (that's a lot of Henry's so far) took over til about 1889. Henry Grone III stayed in charge til 1901. Edward Grone and Herman Grone ran the business from 1893 til 1914. John G Grone joined them in 1901 and ran the business til 1920.
The soda water factory was located at 13 S. 11th Street in St. Louis
The brewery was located at 2217 Clark Avenue in St. Louis
Grone in Co started in 1859 til 1877
Grone and Whelan was in business from 1876 til 1881
Grone and Rau was in business from 1882 til 1883
Grone & Co ran from 1884 til 1923
The soda business bottled the Green River blend of soda after 1919. I am guessing these are all soda's. I am not a beer collector at all so maybe these bottles could have been used in both plants. Any help in that area would be appreciated.
Reminds me that I never posted that bottle here.
Please do, I would like to see it!
Those are beautiful bottles! I don't collect beers either(except Stroh's, because my Dad worked there). The two middle ones I think are soda's but I am not an expert.
I am glad you like them iggy. Thanks for the input.
Now I can't find the pics, so I'll try to retake them tomorrow.
