This is brooch is a total favourite of mine!
I cannot remember where I got this from but it certainly has been with me for many years now.
It is made by Sandor and the orb can split in two by unscrewing the bottom part. Did it once hold solid perfume in, I wonder, like a couple of other brooches I have?
    It measures 5.5cms. Just adorable!

      Ooh...That brooch is so charming!

Right for holding scent/perfume, but rather an impregnated fabric than solid perfume, which could melt and stain your garment :-)

Yes it is! I just adore it. Must be for something I guess. Seems an awful lot of work for it not to be practical in some way, but yes the pierced work would definitely be a problem for solid perfume. it is so intricate!

Definitely appears to be of the pomander variety (for holding scents). Any idea what era this is from?

Hunter, I believe 'Sandor' McGowan retired late 50's so would date this item around that era. Sandor itself stopped production in 1972.

      That makes sense. :)
