    Overall length is 12" material appears to be bronze or brass, blade is the heaviest part, has hand engraving that looks like random line patterns "X's, lines, etc", there is a hook matching the blade material and the handle appears to be carved bone.

      My guess is a bayonet. One used for show rather than practical use. Parades etc.

      Thanks so much, that never even entered my mind but when I google them the hook certainly resembles that style. At least it provides something else to consider!
