    Looks like they just dropped from fatigue with no prior plan, like a blanket underneath them, a purse., a hat, a thermos of drink etc
    And the grass is not a kept lawn. It looks rough. Whats up, Ladies?? Are you alright?? Kind of an odd photo in that timeline of folks having a photo taken ---they are quite "relaxed", aren't they!

      I wondered too if this is war or--tradegy and they are dead. I see no blood tho.

      My take on it -- a hot day, really hot and laying in the shade as those ladies worked hard back then ...maybe they were in a Garden with hot sun, and with those dresses, they would be almost heat exhausted.....??

      My only concern is they are laying with their faces in weedy, grasses which look scratchy to me. Reason tells me they would have taken off the aprons and laid down on them. I would have anyway and neither of them did.
