Possibly Chinese it could be for washing brushes in . Excellent piece

Good news! Thanks much. Because this appeared from my lost and "hidden closet" among other discoveries today--it was put away maybe 15 years and old when I got it. Thus, saving any wear or damage--it remains in great condition for a collector if I find one. Too bad the local consignment shop closed. It was a place I could make a little money. Thanks for dropping by. --I guess nobody else liked it.

He looks exactly like a Chinese mud man. There have been a lot of bad reproductions often seen here, but this one looks older from what I can see. He has the applied mustache for instance as that is what they did. However I have never seen a bowl before.

Well it looks like a planter but "Master" said it may be a receptacle for artist brushes!!I hope that is what it is.

I agree Chinese and may be mid to late 20th C. I have a little bowl here dated by my parents to the 60s with a very similar frog, a flower in the same colour and a same colour green main glaze. Same maker? Couldn't say, but it's a bit of a direction.
Mine has no fisherman Lois, so yours look pretty special.
