I found out that there is a Mexican business selling jewelry made by a number of different artisans/manufactures under the name Laton (at least this is my understanding of what I read). Most pieces that I found on line were marked Laton, 925, plus the usual registration marks for recent silver made in Mexico.
My bangle bracelet is only marked Laton. It was extremely dirty and I bought it only because it was only 75 cents. I am not sure what it is made of. After intensive cleaning (it cleaned up like silver), there is no base metal shining through. (The stains you can see in the second photo are almost gone now; I don't know what they were)
I am as clueless!
.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for looking:)
It does look like silver, but the sharp edge of the cuff makes me a bit suspicious. I's suggest having it tested . Here's a Mexico 925 Laton mark for comparison:

Wow, it's very pretty and since it cleaned up so well and looks so good, I'm thinking it could be. I would have it checked too. Does a magnet stick to it? That's not always the way to tell, unless of course it does stick, then you know for sure it's not silver. I hope it is though.
Thanks so much for your help, Efesgirl. The name "Laton" looks exactly like in your link but that's all. I won't have it tested because for 75 cents it's not worth bothering - LOL
Shareurpassion, thanks for your kind comment. I tried a magnet and it doesn't stick. But like you said, it that doesn't mean for sure that it is silver:(
