    (586 items)

This is a funky number from Sasaki's Craft Collection, a series of handmade pieces dated to the 1990s-2000s.

The Japanese seem to like a nice second gather on their vessels and the teal green here really gives colour and weight to the piece, and is very tactile.
I have yet to find out what the appendages are, but again they are a very Japanese thing. Maybe just a quirk; definitely kawaii.

What is it? Yeah, one of those (vase, sake bottle, fly catcher, aethetic item, artefact..........)

      Wabbits ears again, Scott...
As you said, Karen, very tactile it seems! Love the teal color too :-D

Wabbit ears again Scott! Their little heads are peaking out from behind a hill.
This vase is hereby called bunny, in recognition of your appreciation.

I love everyone's take on things SWF! I totally see where you are coming from. Maybe I need to call this the lobster trap. Thanks for making me think and smile.

The teal is so good Pascale, glad you like it too, and thanks!

I'm totally out of step here, but I thought the appendage on the left, in image one, was Mr Punch! That isn't too say I don't love the vase......

Hey, it's as good as any other identification, and much more amusing!
      Thanks Peggy.

Don't the Japanese make anything plain Karen? LOL Even with a simple piece like this, you can see that thought went into thr design with the appendages and uneven, green base. Very nice piece!

If you look at the first pic and the appendage on the left, it reminds me of a bird whose head was cut off. You can see the beak with the dark spot as the eye... just my opinion :-)

That's a pretty cool imagining too Rick!! Love it.
I am always a bit amazed that the Japanese, at times as rigid and ordered as any nation could be, then like to produce these loose and quirky designs. Thanks Rick!
