Antiqueclo…
(1 item)
This 'Baldwin' Sessions clock has been in Canada, in the family, since before 1920. (Probably anytime after 1906 as that is when they came to Canada). It still runs and chimes on the hour and half hour. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how old it is and anything else about it. Thank you for any information you can give me!
For history buffs like me, the Canadian government has a web site www.collectionscanada.gc.ca that has some copies of old 'Canadian mail order catalogues'. There was a 1916 Eaton's Spring and Summer Catalogue that had a similar clock. They don't have the clock names listed in the catalogue, just a picture and descriptions such as the following: "This neatly trimmed Eight-Day Mantel Clock has a nice wooden case with the finest and hardest black enamel piano finish. It has 6 dark green pillars with bronze finish trimmings and side handles. It is also further ornamented with imitation green marble. This clock has a high-grade eight-day American movement, with the hour cathedral gong, and the half-hour bell. Size 10 1/4 by 14 1/2 inches. Price $4.95"
