This is a World War I “diary” mess kit. The lid includes the soldiers name and all of his stateside and overseas assignments during the War. The bottom of the mess kit is engraved with Lady Liberty with his unit designation on a banner.
This is identified to Romeo Tognazzini of Battery. F 47th Coastal Artillery Corps.
Grouping includes his dog tags. What really makes this special is that the soldier stamped all of the pieces with his Army Service number.
Scott
He received his dog tags at Fort McDowell in FEB/ MAR of 1918.
Thanks Knivesnsuch.
Thanks Dan.
Thanks gio.
Thanks tom.
Thanks battlegear and Hedgewalker.
I will have to post my WWI Ambulance Corps mess kit!
I'd like to see it.
Mess kits are a really nice format for engraving due to the size and flat surface.
I have several others that I will post at some point as well.

Posting it now. Not as nice as yours, but it comes with uniform extras. Will have to make several posts, as we are only able to put up 4 pics....
Just saw it-- GREAT grouping you have there.
