If you read it in a mirror, you can see the text. This is the printing block of a newspaper ad for ordering the book "Saddle of Queens" by Lida Fleitmann Bloodgood. The book was published 1959. You could pay in pounds and shillings, so the ad must have been published before 1971 when the decimalisation came into effect. So the printing block is from the sixties. The bookstore from where you could order the book was run by J A Allen, http://www.museumofthehorse.org/j-a-allen-the-horsemans-booksho/
A courtier was a gentleman of the court, so the picture is of a French gentleman of the court of Henry III and his mistress. Since the books is written in English and the courtier is French "Henry III" is probably king Henry III of France (1551 – 1589) rather than King Henry III of England. Roll some ink onto the block and print the picture your self, would make nice cards!
