This Victorian Peloton glass vase is made from two layers of cased glass - clear over mauve - pink, shading to white. It has a ribbed pattern & applied Peloton threads in pink, blue, yellow, & white. Measuring 12 cm tall, 11 cm across the fan shaped crimped top rim, & 7.5 cm across the base, it has a rough snapped pontil mark underneath.
This is the first in a selection of Peloton items in this distictive mauve - pink shade - they must be all by the same maker, as they have numerous aspects in common. My gut feeling is that these pink items may be of English origin - I think all of them have been purchased from the UK bar one or two examples. Another, to come, was found in Australia.
Hi czechglass5, yes, this type of rim is most distinctive, & does seem to be a rather British style. Glad you're enjoying the images & there will be many more examples of Peloton glass to come, including numerous other pieces in this unusual mauve - pink colour.
Beautiful !
The flamboyant rim is amazing. Wonderful!
Many thanks nutsabotas6, Manikin, & sklo42 - yes, that top is something else! In the near future I will post some images of Victorian glass in the V&A Museum's Glasss Gallery, including a vase with this style of fan top.
You have the BEST COLLECTION of PELETON !!!
Do you have a group shot ... or is it too early ???
Many thanks, vetraio50, I still have two more shelves of my Peloton cabinet to photograph yet, but you never know, a group shot may eventuate! :-)
Thanks - I will get some images posted in the next few weeks once I get through posting the Peloton glass.
