A popular style for boys no longer in "dresses" was the Tunic and shorts, long stocking look. I like it.
Photo One --Had a very creative mom who added a huge patterned bow. a low slung, loose belt to his tunic, and for pants she added puffy bloomers! He stands with hands on hips---maybe in defiance of this get up!
Photo Two This is the popular Middy Tunic Style boys suit( and neat tailored shorts.).His shoes are really something. Did mom use his sister's
out- growns? I would wear them today! The real interest here is the carefully dressed hair-do, I would fix my hair like that today too.--
Also a RARE "SMILE" photo. They are hard to find and I am so happy when I come across one! I just love the expressions on both these kids. They are close enough in age to be playmates. ( about 5) No information on either photo.
These are cabinet photos on cardboard frames, I just took the picture of the actual photo--omitting the frames.
Many of the fashionable men's shoes back in the day also came in high-heels and other things we would consider effeminate now. It's a different time. Style one year is out-of-date the next.
Everything old is new again, it is said!
