This necklace is my latest addition to my little jewelry. When I bought it, it was falling apart. I bought some silk string and fixed it up.
The necklace has a weight of 148 grams and is almost 24 inches long.
I also got a matching stretch bracelet, but I still have to work on it. The elastic needs to be replaces because it is totally worn out.
The two other necklaces are also pressed amber. I didn't know this because I tested them for Bakelite when I first got them. I did so before cleaning them and therefore got a light yellow result. Guess what, it was wrong! It was just dirt, I guess! I found out the hard way because in the summer I went to an outdoor antique market and a vendor complemented me on my beautiful pressed amber necklaces. Thinking that she must know what she was talking about, I went home and re-tested my necklaces: No Bakelite but the rubbing test indicated amber! After that I compared them with some examples at an antique mall, and I am reasonable sure that the vendor was correct.

I am not sure, Mary. I think they take amber pieces and heat and mold them. The result cam be quite pretty. But, of course, the real thing would be much better:)

Correction: The necklace is almost 24 inches long when closed, therefore, when it is open, the length is rather around 47 inches. I wore it yesterday and it is long, really long:)
Sounds like it's long enough to triple it around! Looks amber to me ;)
