Can anyone identify the unit that this insignia represents?

The wing and prop insignia at the base seems to indicate a US Army Air Corps.

I also believe it is a bomb unit.

The insignia is painted on a bomb tail section. This was probably an ashtray for a unit office/ ready room/ R& R area.

    Thanks,

    Scott

I'm sure it's a bomber squadron insignia, I have looked through my books on bomber groups, but this Donald Duck insigna is not in my books.

Thanks, Tom. I appreciate the help and you checking your books.

I did considerable online searching but couldn't find it.

It does remind me of an inspector, prehaps at an aircraft factory or ordance manufacturing plant, in the states. Note the red shirt and tie and magnifying glasses on his head, with an absence of combat gear. A cool item non the less.

Thanks for the input. I would still lean toward a squadron insignia-- the glasses look more like goggles with a strap but not done very well.

Also, if it were what you say, I'd expect it to have an ordnance branch insignia instead of the aviation insignia on the side.

      Thanks again for the feedback.

I have a few hundred postings of trench art, so there are probably a few missed ones!

      Thanks again.

WOW! Scott, one of these days - I Wan'na grow up to be just like you...you have an amazing collection of photos, war mem, trench art, glass.........I looked through all, but I had to come back to see this one especially. I wish I knew anything about insignia, but I barely know about photos...LOL
