Antique Mohair Jointed Tabby Cat Maybe Steiff?

I bought this antique mohair cat from a estate sale. I really thought I was bidding on a Steiff tabby cat. When I got him home and started researching, I decided, I really don't think it's a Steiff. I could not find a tabby with the heavy felt behind the glass eyes, like this unusual guy has. He is made with the same high quality of Steiff. He is hard stuffed. Has the embroidered nose and claws. He is jointed at the legs and the head. He is quite large. Stands 7" tall and is 11" long (not including his tail).
I am hoping someone can help me age & identify this sweet old guy.
