My Gran worked in a laundry most of her life and we would love to visit her with something to be ironed! There was a real reason why we went, she would use old fashioned flat irons and she would spit on them to see if they were hot enough!

So we would line up and watch for the disgusting moment where the poor gob of spit would sizzle and dance across the hot plate! We were never disappointed until she bought an electric one but she still had the spit on it!

This is an Early electric one, quite small just at 10cm long possibly for collars.

That is a neat iron. Do not recall seeing something like that before.
