Need help identifying. I was told it was Russian vodka cups. I was also told that they were Russian egg cups for soft boil eggs. It is inscribed with words I think are in Russian. I was told one said resurrection. The hallmarks are 84 and what I think could be horse and rider. Also AA I think are the makers mark. All 4 pieces are hallmarked. I would like to know more about my piece, I think it is usual and I can not find any similar on the net. Most are the enamel Fabrege eggs. But nothing like this is easily found. I was told they are very common but I don't see it. Any opinions would help. Thanks
XPISTOSZ ("Christosz" or "Christ")
Is there BOCKPES (vaskres - is risen) on the other side ???
Yes actually it says BOCKPECE
It might be Georgian rather than Russian.
Can we see the close up of the mark in image 3 ? Or any mark clearly struck ? They should be the same everywhere.``Horse and rider`` beside 84 should be St George town mark for Moscow, but unusual rectangular shape of the mark. There are NO Faberge eggs on the net, and besides 99% of Russian cloisonné eggs on the net are fakes made in India or China, with faked Russian marks. Huge business, not only eggs, spoons, boxes, almost everything is faked.
Your Easter egg looks genuine, and if so, it`s not common at all. The last letter in the engraving for Jesus is old orthography. I think that letter was abandoned after the reform, but still used in the church.
The Holy Trinity Monastery is what comes up when using exact lettering of my egg
How do I post more pictures
I also am not saying, I know this is not a Fabrege egg. I think it is a commemorative or a souvenir egg something along that line. I am not even comparing this to a beautiful Fab.
People gave them as gifts on Easter. Expensive gifts, by the way (therefore so many plated items, silver was expensive).
You can replace one of the images in editing mode. Delete e.g. the third image to add one more.
I am really interested to see the marks.Thank you.
Take a look at this fake egg (not a danferous one - very obvious).
