I kinda went crazy today and got this little guy...I love penguins, especially that the dads duty is to incubate the eggs and the way they all huddle together.

So, even tho he looks black here, he's really dark purple and that only seems to show when the light hits it just right. He's got good weight for the size, about 4.25" or 10.80 cm tall.

    Flat polished pontil.

Someone in the internet world is saying this is Murano...what do you say?

Would love to know, but love 'im anyway.

    Enjoy!

Nice penguin! Penguins rock. And sit on them too.
Nicely made, don't know who by.

I share your love to penguins.

Not all glass animals are Murano. The Chinese Ann Primrose do quality pieces too, plus Malta glass and Chech so its difficult to say.

Karen, Thanks. I'm not sure who made it either. They're just so cute, I had to get him. ;)

Thank you Ivonne, have you seen the slapping penguin video?

GeodeJem, that's right. Funny thing was, I searched and did find one exactly like this and their description was "rare Murano". I don't think so! I used to have a bookmark with all the Murano animal figurines but can't find the darn thing. A lot of good bookmarks do! lol

There's another short video, with a penguin that keeps glancing slyly over to another penguin that's standing near either, his nest or his rock pile. Anyway, the sly one makes sure the other one isn't looking and then sneaks over, picks up a stone in its' beak, and hurries away with it. So, so funny.

I used to collect penguins as well, but you know once the word gets out, people start giving you penguins of any, and every kind. I admit to re-gifting the plush penguins, but some I've kept, they're very special to me.

Your penguin is just beautiful and everything a pengie should be.

Hi shareurpassion, I have a soft spot for penguins too and can understand totally why you got this chap.
    12. shareurpassion shareurpassion, 8 years ago
Thank you Gillian. Ya know what's funny, I was searching for a video today after I said thank you to karen, and I didn't think I had even mentioned it, but I spent about 45 minutes watching videos of the penguins slapping each other, sliding back into the water, getting pushed back into the water and seeing who's taller than who! It was a crack up! I'm so glad you mentioned it but I'm afraid to go watch it now because I won't be back for a while!!! lol!

He's a little cutie Susie :-) I'm doubtful about it being Murano... the quality is just not there, but it is still a cute lil guy.
    17. shareurpassion shareurpassion, 8 years ago
Thanks Rick for the love and comment. And that's exactly why I pretty much stay away from glass items...he looks so lonely in the photo. Maybe I'll pick up just one more ;)

Don't you just love Penguins. I knew a chap that was sent to the Falklands who was employed just to pick up Penguins when they fell over. Let me explain, because of the many jets and planes flying over during the conflict the Penguins look up loose their balance and fall over. He was then there to pick them up and put them back on their feet. He was a bit of a joker, so I never really knew if he was taking the Mick or if it was really true. Lol Neil
