So I find this satchel and I get it just thinking it was a satchel with not much of anything else in it. I open it up and there is all kinds of stuff that I have no idea what they would be! Any feedback on what some of these items may be or had been used for would be greatly appreciated.

It seems this soldier was in Blenod Les Toul France where he found a piece of wood and wrote the date and where he found it. The bag is also labeled with the soldiers name and where he was at apparently. One of the items seems like a holder for his rifle. A belt. There are even some sea shells that he found with sand from the beach in them on the left side of the picture and a shirt on the left with a tag AHL Fine Shirts Trade Mark. And some other stuff.

The rifle case is about 36 inches across. The leather strap on top seems to be missing. There also seem to be very miniscule spots of shimmering silver like powder/dust on certain spots on the case. The circular leather part on the base is a little loose and has the numbers 1151 with a 20 underneath it. Also written on the middle leather portion is E.L. Schalla, 538 East Church St., Williamston, Michigan.

The bag also has a spot that says John Cook Blenod Les Toul France Dec. 21 1918. The shirt back has the name cook marked on it near the top and the inside tag says "Fine Shirts AHL Trade Mark".

Thank you for looking. Always wishing all of you nothing but the best my friends! : )

Looks like a carry bag for a WW1 soldier.

Starting on the left-- the red cord with acorns is a hat cord possibly for an artillery soldier (all red).

The pair of green lace up equipment are puttees. Worn around the ankle.

Next is an overseas cap. It looks like the insignia was removed.

The three rolled up items appear to be cloth leg wraps worn in a similar fashion as the puttees.

The rest look to be souvenirs.

The red cross arm wrap is either for the actual Red Cross or worn by a medic in the field.

It looks like a nice find.
