I bought this large vase today. Couldn't resist it as I think it is a pressed glass Celery vase. It is very heavy, and there is a lot of scratches etc on the base, so it could well be Victorian. It has a very large foot too, so it wouldn't fall over easily. It weighs over 3lbs (1783g) and is 24.5cms tall and 13.5cms across at the top. Does anyone know the pattern and where it may have been made. The top has an interesting shape too.
all I find on this is "Drape and Waffle" with unknown maker
Thank you Tallcakes, at least you know what the pattern is called - I got as far as drape, but didn't know what the squares were called.
you're welcome. the only ref. I found had a spooner in this pattern.
Was it American glass you found? I thought this would probably be English, purely because it is so heavy I would have thought exporting it would be uneconomical! ( I am living in England).
yes, it was mentioned in an American glass ref. but that isn't necessarily a confirmation of American glass since there is no confirming catalog or other reliable reference.
