    (1 item)

8 1/2 inch by 8 1/12 inch when opened. When closed the clutch is
8 1/2 inch by 5 inch. Both are in pristine condition. My grandmother was a woman working in the advertising world during a time that women still were not accepted in this man's world. We have pictures of her sitting with Carey Grant in Reno NV. She was light years ahead of her time indeed. My mother had them priced at a 2nd hand shop in Little River, SC. at only $20. I don't have any of my grandmother's items, and find these to be so beautiful. I wish someway I could display them and show them off. I have not seen any visible signs of who made them, and am guessing they are 1950/60 era. If any one out there knows where I can find more information on them, like who made them, era and value, I would enjoy learning more. Thanks for your time, Yvonne

Hi there Yvonemill, first I will need to know what the zipper says. Does it say SWIFT? TALON? Does that say YKK? I think it does. There are sites that will actually date the zipper, which in turn, dates the purse. These are both very nice and I am glad you have these. I'll check to see if I can find a site that has lots of info for you. I'll be back to let you know!

I have an idea how you could display them if you happen to be crafty. They can be put in 2 separate shadow box frames. For the backing, you could put gold and black velvets or one color velvet or whatever design you like that would bring out the color of them. Just make sure if you do this not to put them on a wall that the sun hits when it shines in your home. That would end up damaging your purses.

I just have to say I laughed at what you said "at a time when women weren't accepted..." so cute cuz honey, I don't really know that we ever will be! ;) Very sweet. And honestly, all you have to do is close your eyes and there is where you will find everything, along with your grandmother! I would love to see the photo of her with Carey Grant!

It's easier for me just to tell you that you are right about the era...1950's is my guess. Mostly because the purses/clutches have the same design but with different zippers, I would think the one that has the ring is possibly a bit older but not much.
And something I learned is that YKK is a company from Japan, the initials became their logo/brand because the actual name "Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha" didn't fit on the zippers! And there you have it ;)

The zipper does say Ykk. THANKS ! And tour so correct about us women. There has been progress in the womens world, and for that I'm thankful for. I love the idea of the shadow box, and I think doing a reverse color scheme is a great idea. I wish I were more crafty, but I think it's doable. I hope to hear back on where to look for more info on the brand. Just odd that there is nothing noted on these clutchs. SINCERELY, yvonne
