I always thought it was razor strap but it turns out to be strop. But then again both seem to be correct but strop is more correct than strop.
Apparently the wood portion was used to sharpen the blade and the leather to hone and even out the blade. It is supposed to be razor sharp. I used the wooden portion on the razor in the photo and I could tell that it had been used for this before.
As for age just going by the look it could quite possibly be 100 years old making it a true antique. If not give it about 10 years and it probably will be.
The razor I posted a few months ago. If I recall correctly it is from about 1930.
