This is a little vase standing under inches (5cm). I found it on a French eBay site. I need help identifying the maker or era. I believe the enameling suggest it's a Bohemian from between 1900-30. It is a simple blown vase without Pontil; it has a marbled black and white interior layer, and a clearcoat to accentuate the depth of the vessel. The rim is nicely ground and gold enameling is applied throughout.

Well done!! The vase colors are exactally right, it would have helped to have the rim painted the same way... but it helps - thanx

Very interesting Kralik. I've had my eyes on a similar piece but have no idea who made it. I've been searching for a couple of weeks but have come up with nothing. They are both unidentified, but I recognized the one on the left as Able Combe which is French, so possibly the other, similar to yours, also comes from France. Although not the same, they look similar in style. BTW... yours is a beauty!

Phil, the piece you linked to on EBay is Rindskopf (and a nice one!) but this piece definitely is not, in my opinion. The shape and marbling style just don't fit in with their work. But it does have similarities, as you point out. Jericho, I have seen French pieces with similar gilding, so I think I am with Rick, and would lean towards this vase being French. It is a great vase, whoever made it!

That's really interesting - When you get into this kind of collecting you slowly develop a kind of sixth sense for 'important pieces' whether you know who made them or not. The link that I passed to Jericho was one such piece - I liked it, made a note for future reference, just so happens Jezza's post coincided with my recent view of the piece I linked to - Good to have the ID - thanks Michelle!

Sure thing, Phil! I know exactly what you mean - I think your brain can sense the quality of a piece, even though at the time you may not know who made it. There are so many helpful coincidences in glass collecting, too! :)

That sticker is a bit of a puzzle. If I can add to it ... this site mentions a sticker with some similarities and some bad French too ...
