I rescued this galvanised mug from an old shed just before demolition. It took me a while to find out why it had a hook attached to the bottom. It is a mug for hanging on or near a water pump for people to get a drink of water. Hanging upside down avoids having leaves and dirt settling inside.
It is 3.5 inches high and the handle is riveted on. The year 1915 is stamped on the side with either 6 or 7 letters the first 4 of which are ADAM??.
Quite clever having the hook on the bottom. Neat item.
Yes, unfortunately someone decided to use it to hold creosote at some time. I cleaned most of it off but there are still traces.
