Two of these were donated to a thrift store I frequent. The last person's price tag with IDing info (hopefully) was left on them. Can anyone read the name? It's scribbled on so carelessly.

This one is a nice, colourful piece done on canvas. Sadly, the canvas has deteriorated with age and the effects of the oils in the pastels.

Would having my college's arts students 'touch up' the pastel where it is damaged, ruin any value? It has water damage, and the damaged canvas backing in one section.

The writing doesn't seem to make much sense--why is a "dog" involved--Or does it try to say " dag"--maybe meaning it was copied from a daguerreotype..

It looks like it says "Mr and Mrs Hecksels-founders of Hecksels dog" . Now what Hecksels dog is, I haven't a clue

I was thinking it was a name, then "founder of <insert name here> day". At first I was thinking, Hackley (local reference), but I don't think it's Hackley.

Yes the last name is Hecksel..likely German...if you google founders of Hecksels dog ...something may give you the answer..i would not tamper with them..keep them in their natural state ..nice purchase...

      Thank you, Nitty Gritty.
I Googled Day and Dog, without anything coming up.

Maybe the Hecksels were dog lovers and they founded a charity to help abandoned dogs ? Just a thought.

Pretty sure it says Day, not Dog.
