Fun project completed in the last month - Heavy-Duty Tracked Mobile Crane. I started with the chassis (with tracks) from a Marx Mobile Rocket Launcher. Removed the launcher, the two electric motors and battery box and all the controls (still have all of those pieces if anyone needs them), and then worked to add a later-version Nylint BIG-DIG with earlier version Nylint Michigan Crane boom.
The biggest issue was the big holes left to the right of the driver's compartment of the truck. It's actually sort of hard to see in the pictures, but I removed that entire original panel and replaced it with diamond-plate from a Tonka firetruck. I also built a RACK for the boom to rest upon. I finished it all off with various sections of new diamond-plate affixed to the center section and side steps.
I think it is an unusual piece, but it works out well proportionately. I'm enjoying it! James
This is great!! I guess it is a limited edition 1 of 1:) Do you have any photos of before the transformation??
Thank you. I do have 'before' pictures, and also pictures of the actual process, but I don't know how to post additional pictures, Roddy!
I believe you have to make another post like a continuation jpzank. Hopefully some more seasoned CW members can fill you in about posting additional photos.
Nice workmanship, impressive
Thank you, Toylover. I'll be putting up pictures of a newly completed project - a Tonka PILEDRIVER Truck - very soon. Thanks for your kind comment. James
