This necklace had a very bad tangle in it when I bought it. I wonder if the lobster clasp is a replacement, as it seems to clash with the design of the necklace. As far as I know, the stones are all faceted quartz. Thanks to kyratango, I know how this was made.

Pascale - well, that clears that right up! I think I will still go ahead and put on a spring clasp. The lobster clasp looks funny to me. :-)))) The metal isn't magnetic, so that's good news. No ferrous metal!
I hate lobster clasps... Nothing better than a spring clasp, though toggle or S clasp are not bad too :-))
Pascale - now that you mention it, I do have a small "S" clasp lurking in my spare parts box.
