I've had this for 25 years or so, bought it from a yard sale. I've never seen one like this. It has router outlines and "appliqued" pieces of wood on it, as well as some other ornate pieces. Just wanted to know about it. I am just about to chalk paint it, but feel guilty because it's beautiful, so maybe I shouldn't.

I would think 1930's as this was not the decoration from the 20's and old sears and eaton's catalogs show that also. Beautiful work !

Keep it the way it is. Please don't paint it.

Don't paint ! It is a veneer over wood and is beautiful as is. Paint can cause veneer to lift also .

Chalk paint destroys value and is only a passing fad. Shabby Chic is one of those terrible and destructive movements that ruins many great things.
Don't do anything that cannot easily be undone.
It's too nice to be wrecked.

I have the matching dresser to this piece. I bought it a few months ago from a vintage warehouse. I've been looking for information or about what year it is from. Have you found anything out?

Please don't paint it. Shabby chic is a fad that will pass and would be a nightmare to strip if someone wanted to bring it back to it's wood grain.

Don't paint it; it's beautiful! Paint something else that's not so special.
