I rehabilitated this vintage 40's-50's wall bar that belongs to a friend mine. The story goes that the bar belonged to his grandfather in Cuba and was brought to the states just before the Cuban revolution. The bar was stored in an attic for decades, neglected and forgotten. My friend wanted to surprise his father by having it restored and presented to him on his 85th birthday... needless to say, he was moved by the transformation.
What was done: The piece was completely disassembled, veneer repaired, entire case stripped, stained and finished. The metal bands were then painted in a metallic brass and a whimsical stencil design was added.
Nice! Anyone ever tell you you look like Rhett Butler?
