I've had this piece for a while and finally figured out what it is - a 1920s Vulcan Car Mascot. He stands about 4 1/2"H, 4 holes in the base for attaching to the car.
Not sure if they made reproductions of these, hoping someone will know.
    Thanks for looking

I actually know nothing of these though I should have them in some of my books, but did not look. Its not really something or the type of mascot I collect. However I did contact my friend who has written countless books on mascots and he said:
" Your mascot is an original and not a repro. The four holes are correct and are present to allow the mascot to be riveted to a rad cap. These mascot castings do vary as to quality of detail and yours is quite good."

Wow, thank-you very much PhilDMorris and thank-you to your friend!!!
Car mascots are not something I've ever found before so doing research on this has been tricky - I keep getting sidetracked as there are so many cool ones out there.

Forgot to mention that he is one of the worlds leading authorities on car mascots and hood ornaments and he has written over 10 books on mascots under his belt !~
