This piece is so unlike most other Dolphin Glass I have seen.
Glass exported by Dolphin is usually with a black or red ground, with black, yellow and red spatters, and clear cased. Almost always they are urn shaped.
This is different because of it's very vase-like shape, the red is very bright, it has ribs, it has mica scattered through it, and it has a hot worked rim.
It is clear cased however.
Perhaps this was not such an unusual style for Dolphin; perhaps it was a style just for domestic sale and not for export.
It definitely is Dolphin Glass, the label appears original.
Interesting.....
Height 28cm
I love the colour! I've never heard of Dolphin glass before, thank-you for sharing this.
It is a rather striking piece. The mica is a nice touch.
Thanks CA. Dolphin were a very good glass company in Japan that seemed to have stopped production in the 1980s, although not very well known.
Sparkles always add I think Fort. Thanks!
I just saw one of these only I couldn't grab it...I would have had to put the fish down and that just wasn't gonna happen!
Missed your comment, belatedly, thank you, Ken.
Damn the fish Sue!!
