Hello Everyone! This doll was my grandmothers and I am trying to find out some information about it - ANY information about it! It is approximately 23 inches long. The face and hands appear to be porcelain and the body and legs are stuffed with saw dust type material. The only tag I can find is at the base of the neck and reads "100% human hair, made in Korea, hairs of Indian origin". We have had this in our family at least since I was born (1965). My grandmother was born in 1901 but we do not know when she got it. My father was born in 1931 and he always remembers the doll being on display. My grandmother traveled extensively so I have no idea where she obtained this doll. We have always wondered what kind of doll it is and where it came from so any information or even if you can direct me to someone with the appropriate expertise, I would be grateful!

    Thank you!

Hi your German Bisque doll on fully jointed composition body is wonderful. She has a replaced wig on that is not her original hair . I need you to look at her neck it will be marked and show me a photo . Lift under wig in back if you need too . It has a marking or logo .

I have to correct the above because you did not photo her nude I can see she is on a kid leather body by shape of leg under stockings . She is called a shoulder head dolly face but I need a photo of back of her neck or open back of dress it might be on the back shoulder .

      Manikin,

I am not ignoring you, I have just been busy - I will undress her and take more pictures - unfortunately she is not in good shape underneath - legs and arms seem to be detached but I don't know to what extent. The wig seems to be glued on pretty well. Should I carefully detach it??

      Thanks!

You should be able to see markings without removing wig If necessary you can slightly pull up on bottom of wig enough to see if anything is under it . I would say remove if mot glued to tight since it is not right wig for her but suits her ok
I am glad you replied I was wondering what happened to you :-) Her body of kid leather often spring leaks and saw dust comes out . We patch them . Be careful of head since it is inserted just under leather and they can get loose and fall off . Support it when looking and if it is loose after your done looking for a mark put some elmer's glue on it where it goes into body . Don't have her standing with a loose head . Arms and legs also can be repaired . Her value is in head if we find out maker . She might be a German Kestner doll by her look or Simon Halbig but I am guessing without seeing mark or number on head .

OK, so I took more detailed photos, but I don't know how to add more than 1 more. I was afraid to take of the pantaloons as I think it might be holding her legs on to a certain extent. I was able to expose the number on her head but it's not super clear. I will post that picture. Let me know how to get you the others.

      Thanks!

Send them to my email Manikin1234@hotmail.com
Can you make out number ? rub pencil lead over it so it is clearer . I see Dep that only means registered .

Is the pate the part covering opening in head under wig plaster ?
    9. Manikin Manikin, 8 years ago
Yes from the photo's you sent we can say it is a German Kestner doll that is their mold number 154 and plaster pate was used only by them ???? It is one of the most common mold numbers found for Kestner dolls .
      She is lovely !
