once things start preceding the 1870 mark, i get a bit blurry in dating my fashion, so i hope someone out there can confirm a year or range of years this could be dated.

side note: when i had access to my scanner over my semester break, it went on the fritz (to put it mildly) and stopped responding to my computer. it'll be a while before i can get anything else up other than the couple images i was able to scan before things went boom. so frustrating! i have so many lovely images i'd love to put up for you guys!

I would put it in the 1860s. Based on the backmark, it fits with Civil War era cdvs. The clothing is consistent with that era as well.

thanks, scott! any way to tell if it's early/mid 60s or is that not possible to pin down?

Looks to be early. It appears the two split by 1865.

I found two advertisements for the firm in 1861 and 1862:

      Household Journal (1861):

      https://books.google.com/books?id=NKsiAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA160&lpg=PA160&dq=duchochois+%26+klauser+630&source=bl&ots=uszFVjBaqr&sig=8Ws59JV6KUgCNz0CjDuWIJStu60&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi88fqmh9vSAhVs74MKHUmrCuEQ6AEIMDAE#v=onepage&q=duchochois%20%26%20klauser%20630&f=false

      NY Weekly Review (1862):

      https://books.google.com/books?id=b_5WAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA286&lpg=PA286&dq=duchochois+%26+klauser+630&source=bl&ots=0FDljiIFWe&sig=07Riykrs1HS5mM8Yy0E3AiT5A78&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi88fqmh9vSAhVs74MKHUmrCuEQ6AEILjAD#v=onepage&q=duchochois%20%26%20klauser%20630&f=false

And here is a NY Business Directory (1865) that lists the photographers separately and ONLY Klauser at the 630 Broadway address:

      https://books.google.com/books?id=jzxEAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA355&lpg=PA355&dq=duchochois+%26+klauser+630&source=bl&ots=MaXYgQ0qQM&sig=keUvF0hJ5M9aj-hMG3GDZS6Fg_I&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi88fqmh9vSAhVs74MKHUmrCuEQ6AEIMjAF#v=onepage&q=duchochois%20%26%20klauser%20630&f=false
