This Victorian Peloton glass vase is made from two layers of cased glass - pale pink spatter over a white interior, with applied Peloton threads in deep pink. The vase also has a satin finish & applied clear thorn handles. It measures 15.5 cm tall, 10 cm across the crimped, fan shaped top rim, & 5.5 cm across the base, which has a rough snapped pontil mark. Clearly this is by the same maker as the preceding vase. Also purchased from the USA.
Yummy strawberry gelato.
What is meant by Pelaton?
Sorry for the late reply, Karen - many thanks!
carmenisacat, Peloton refers to a type of art glass made from the 1880s onwards to around the 1920s, mostly by Bohemian makers. Peloton glass items feature short, random threads of glass applied to the body of the piece. Some items have the threads blended right in, while others have more of a raised texture. This vase, & the other one I have like it, have their threads blended right in.
