Not sure when or how I acquired this dish.
    It's 6" wide
The top opening is almost 5" across
And the base is 3" across
It has lots of scratches, and what appear to be hard water stains. There are several random bubbles in the glass, so I feel certain it's blown. But the top edge appears and feels as if it has a seam. And I think the base is a polished pontil? And the color is beautiful!!
Of all the glass lovers/collectors here on CW I'm sure someone can school me on this piece of glass, and I can't wait!
By the way, could it be glass that was blown into a mold? Too new for that isn't it?
Thanks in advance for the insight, it is much appreciated!

Purple is my favorite color-is there a design on the side of this?
    2. Karenoke Karenoke, 8 years ago
Mrstyndall, in fact there are three of the same designs but it's difficult to photograph. I may try again In the next day or so. They kinda look like an elephant. Thanks for the love and interest!

Beautiful colour would say no pontil & machine made sorry i can't be more precise as i'm no expert Karen

That's ok Malkey, I appreciate you telling me that much even. So machine made means....not blown into a mold, rather machine made molten glass, that a machine either shapes or pours into a mold?
You never know what's in a thrift store and if I can learn what to look for, I'll stop bugging you all to teach me....lol
      Thank you!

Thanks for the love to my learning piece of glass everyone!

Btw, now that I know it's machine made. I'm guessing I could have received flowers in this many moons ago. And I likely kept this one because of the color.

Definitely made in a mold. That COLOR.....!!! Try using vinegar to remove the hard water stains.

Hi Karen dont know about the exact mechanics so can be blown into a mould as you state very intriguing Karen the moulding on the sides

      Ok, thanks Malkey!

Thank you Bonnie, I will try vinegar. But I can tell you, these are tough stains. I actually wiped it down with goof-off....lol, but it helped.

Thanks for the help and your time everyone!
