Was digging around my Mom's attic and found some of the dolls she played with and had as a kid. There was a Revlon 18", some Ginny Dolls and then a few that had no markings. Trying to figure what they are. She's 70 so I assume they are from the 50's. Here's the third one.
How tall is she ? She is hard plastic and looks like a Mary Hoyer doll . Look on her back for that name ok
It's 14" tall. Didn't see any markings on the back.
Did you see a blank raised circle ?
Other Companies used Mary Hoyer Doll heads but her name was removed from the back sometimes just a large blank raised circle or sometimes marked USA
Has a light circle with "Made In The U.S.A." on the back. Among other things it comes with some ice skates.
It is a Mary Hoyer Head and body she sold mold to other companies and she removed her name from circle on her dolls that she sold it said Original Mary Hoyer inside circle . As she did not want her name on the doll anymore , I would know that face any place :-) Very nice . These dolls tend to get a sour odor and I hope yours didn't . Yours was likely sold by Richland Co. But when listed these dolls are often called Mary Hoyer's unauthorized or look a likes
Solved :-)
Thanks for the info. It does have some of that sour smell.
Yes and that sour smell never goes away and can get worse . It is a breakdown in plastic mixture . Most collectors won't buy them once they have that odor .Some studies say it is a bacteria I am not sure but if a Hard plastic doll doesn't have by now it never will but if it has it there is no cure many say that taking it all apart and sealing it inside but that is temporary fix . I Have several Mary Hoyer's and always ask about odor some have it some don't .
She is solved and I enjoyed seeing all of them. can you post the Ginny's ? There are all different bodies. faces and by years . I would love to see them .
Just posted the Ginny Dolls for you to see
