Hello -- I recently acquired this basket, but do not know anything about it's history, area of origin, or when it was made. It is 9 1/2" in diameter, highly patterned, and has deep blue and red colors in the design. There is fading to to top of the basket. The weave is very fine. I am interested in learning anything about where it could have come from, and how old it may be.
Thank you for any information you can provide!

I would LOVE to know who made this basket. Because I put one up here about 5 years ago with the same weave, same material and with the rim woven in exactly the same way this one is. Mine has butterflies on it and has faded a bit, yours is alot better in that the colors pop off the basket.

So, if you ever find out who made your beautiful basket, make sure to comment here so I will know who made mine too :)

Hi Tlynnie -- Thanks for your comment! The only bit I can add is that it was cataloged in a museum as "Native American" and ca. 1900. I have no idea though what drove that determination. I will be sure to post to the site if I get more specific information. I am very curious too where this basket (and yours) came from!

Do you know which museum it was or in what state it was? It would not be the first time I've contacted a museum to get info about a basket :)

Hi -- The information we received (New York State) is simply "Native American" and ca. 1900. I wish there was more info!
