This painting survived the Armenian genocide 1915-1917.
I have had it for 37 years. There are slight burn marks on the back.
The Christians were slaughtered, and replaced with Muslims.

      What does the corner say?

May 10th ,1883 Artist signature is Thrum. It has 2 dots side by side just above the U.
In 1915 Armenian Civilians escorted by armed Ottoman soldiers are marched through Mam-ul-aziz (Today Elazig) to a prison in the nearby Mezireh district for deportation , mass murder. Estimates 600,000 - 1,800,000 deaths.
Only a guess on the artist signature. This is the date that this Syriac Orthodox Priest painting was supposedly made.
