Ever wonder why there is music? To paraphrase Man Ray, the business of humans on this planet is to procreate and to make noise. Those that do it artfully win favor.

In my opinion, music probably preceded language in human history. Humans learned to make sounds imitating their prey and they drummed rhythms to communicate alerts. Back at the camp, the sing-songy cooing of motherhood conditioned young minds to find pleasure in these rhythms and melodies. How could they know this would lead to rock & roll?

I think the beating of the heart, probably led to clapping, stomping in the dawn of creation. Add the sound of the birds..There you have music.

I like it all and I like it loud but most of all, I like it when it's a little bit odd.

Thanks everyone for the swell comments and the loves.

This just in! - I thought an update was appropriate -
"NORFOLK, ENGLAND—The Yorkshire Post reports that Shelby Putt of the Stone Age Institute and her team scanned the brains of volunteers with functional near-infrared spectroscopy while they produced two-sided stone weapons, such as hand axes and cleavers. It had been thought that such stone tool production, first undertaken some 1.75 million years ago, would be linked to the evolution of language. But the scientists instead found that the same areas of the brain were activated in the tool makers as in those who play the piano in a rock-and-roll style."
