Here is my great grand father`s percussion cap muzzle loading gun.
It has history of at least 100 years in our family. Apart from a single crown as proof mark, their are no other marking on it. Can anybody help to identify and dat it ?????
Thank you everyone for the love....
Probably 1840-1870. British Tower cartouche.
very nice in excellent condition too
Thank u blunderbuss,, now I have some hint about it...
Thank u swampdogg for the appreciation and thanks everybody else for the love...
It has the wrong nipple on it. It's far too long.
Yes.....I will change thay
Dixie Gun Works will help you out. I'm still trying to figure out why the cut-out section on the pistol grip.
Alas.....I m thousands of mile away from Dixie Gun works....Thank you blunder buss
I am too, Medico. If that nipple will come out easily, measure the dia. of the threaded end, and I probably have 1 here, I can mail it to you. A pistol nipple would probably be a better fit. My email address is on my profile to send your address to. If the nipple doesn't come out fairly easily, use Blaster or Liquid Wrench & let it soak for a week or 2. Heat works real well after soaking. Don't screw it up if it doesn't want to move at 1st. I've had to soak them on revolvers, up to a yr..
Thank u so much Blunderbuss.....I m overwhelmed....I found a local gun repair shop in a nearby city whose owner was 86 year old and was very well versed with old guns....The gun is with him and he has kept it for soaking and will change the nipple .......
Thank u again for the concern and I really appreciate it.
Very nice :) family heirlooms are priceless.
Thank u Trey
